Prompt templates are so helpful.
Recently, I tried using different templates.
There is no one-size-fits-all template.
You need to choose the one that suits the task.
Start a chat with the models, and observe the quality of the output.
Then ask the model itself: How would you rate my prompts? What am I missing?
Ask for a prompt template.
Repeat this for a few regular tasks that you do, be it coding, image generation or research.
After a couple of rounds, you will have some prompt templates.
This is not a silver bullet; however, you will get better results.
Here is one I got from Cursor, with Claude Sonnet 4:
Goal: Refactor my code with minimal code duplication.
Constraints:
- Follow WP coding standards
Checklist:
- [ ] Remove duplicate code
- [ ] Add doc blocks & useful comments
Current context:
Here’s my current code:

What I want:
First, outline the steps. Once I confirm, do the code changes.
(If needed) Can you recap what we’ve done so far and what’s left?
