Just caught Seth Godin on Marie Forleo’s podcast and my developer brain is buzzing.
As someone who follows Seth everywhere he goes (yes, I’m that fan), I was curious to hear his take on AI and the latest shifts in our industry.
But what really stopped me in my tracks were two simple documents he swears by before starting ANY project:
The Premortem: Imagine your project has completely failed. What went wrong? This isn’t pessimism—it’s preparation. By anticipating failure points upfront, you’re already three steps ahead.
The Rave: Now flip it. Your project is a wild success. What are people saying about it? What made it extraordinary? This becomes your north star and quality benchmark.
He also touched on “Page 19 Thinking”—the idea that complex work requires multiple people with different skills, and no one person can (or should) do it all. As developers, we live this daily, but hearing it articulated so clearly was a lightbulb moment.
