I Built My Own Writing Assistant (Here’s Why)

I used to spend hours creating content for different platforms.

Same idea, three versions: LinkedIn, blog, YouTube. Each one taking 60 to 90 minutes.

Then I realized I was doing this backwards.

I built four Claude skills for my workflow:

Idea Refiner clears messy thoughts. I ramble in voice mode. It finds the one idea worth sharing.

Writer creates the first version. LinkedIn post, blog article, newsletter. In my voice, not generic AI voice.

Repurposer adapts across platforms. One piece becomes three without losing the message.

Ship Decider breaks my launch paralysis. Tells me ship or don’t ship. No middle ground.

The result? One hour of work. Three platforms covered.

But here’s what actually changed.

I’m not automating creativity. I’m automating the repetitive decisions. Which platform format? How do I structure this? Should I even ship this?

The thinking is still mine. The voice is still mine.

AI just handles the translation work.

Most people ask “what can AI do for me?” Better question: “what decisions am I making over and over that AI can handle?”

That’s where the real time savings live.

Not in replacing your judgment. In freeing it up.
