An Empty Section Is Honest. A Fake One Isn’t.

I visited a fellow builder’s site last week.

He used to write code. Now he teaches marketing and writing. I got curious, so I went digging.

And there it was. A testimonial section with a stock photo I’ve seen a hundred times. A name that felt written, not lived.

The moment I saw it, the trust was gone.

This wasn’t the first time. I’ve seen it on other sites too. Even mine has broken photo links from a theme change I never finished.

Here’s the thing nobody says out loud.

A missing testimonial is just a gap. A fake testimonial is a lie wearing a nice font. One is incomplete. The other is intentional.

We rush to look finished. We forget that looking finished and being honest are different games. A visitor forgives an empty section faster than a fake one.

So if you’re a developer moving into marketing. If you’re a founder still shaping your site. Leave the section blank before you fill it with a borrowed face.

An unfinished page says you’re building. A fake one says you’re performing.

What’s on your testimonial section right now? Go check.
